Faithful Connections

I titled this year’s stewardship letter, Faithful Connections. In a way, reflecting on connections gives us a way of looking back and looking ahead. After the strategic planning process that helped launch our First Third Ministry (F3M) here at Sunnybrook, we chose connection as our focus priority.

This has meant connection with children, youth, and young families, but it has also meant creative connections in the community. I feel we need to stick with this theme and continue to explore how we live our faith in a variety of ways with one another here and in the community. There are so many ways we put our faith into action as we learn about the joys
and challenges, and the spiritual longings of our neighbours.

We are exploring faithful connections this week and next week at our Coffee Parties. Thank you to the hosts and to everyone who has, or will be, attending. This is a great opportunity to share the stories about our gifts and our passions and how we connect with the vision and mission of Sunnybrook United. It’s good to remember that even as we are part of a national denomination, each congregation/pastoral charge across the country is responsible for financially supporting their own work. All our contributions enable all aspects of our life and work together. That’s why it is important to start our planning each year with conversations about our gifts and passions.

We have an amazing faith community with lots of gifts and expertise to share. Think of Sunnybrookas a puzzle that forms a picture of who we are in this community. We need all our individual, colourful pieces coming together to create the whole picture. I look forward to sharing ideas, visions, and dreams with you over the next few weeks, as we determine what the Sunnybrookpicture will look like for the next year.

Peace and joy
