Arts in the Sanctuary

The Spirit of Wellness group is a creation of folks from both the Sunnybrook and Gaetz communities. We partner with
community groups to offer experiences that focus on wellness, spirituality, and the arts. Once again, we are collaborating with the Kerry Wood Nature Centre to offer Arts in the Sanctuary this Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00. You will find
local artists and musicians the wildlife sanctuary during that time. Hearing music wafting through the trees, and seeing artwork take shape that is inspired by this beautiful setting, is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. There will be something for all ages. I encourage you to come check it out if you haven’t already experienced this amazing event.

As a way of connecting one sanctuary to another, some of the finished artwork will come to Sunnybrook on Sunday, October 25. I am so grateful for our Spirit of Wellness group that recognizes a need to care for our spiritual wellness in a variety of accessible ways. Engaging with the visual and performing arts offers wonderful opportunities for all ages in the broader community to disconnect from devices and worries and just be in the moment for a while. Now we just need to give
ourselves permission to stop our “doing” and to just be. It is my hope that by doing that we can reconnect with our true identity, remembering who we are beyond our productivity.

Throughout this Season of Creation, I have asked us, “What was amazing in the great outdoors this week?” Red Deer offers us so many opportunities to experience creation in all it’s glory. We are fortunate to live in this part of our beautiful country. I hope that this week, an art and music walk through a wildlife sanctuary, will be on your list of what was amazing in the great outdoors.
Peace and joy,
Nancy
