Message from the Minister

Hidden Gems

There is no shortage of stairs to climb when visiting San Francisco, but if youre lucky, you can find a path of shade and beauty to make the climb enjoyable.

You can see that our Spirit of the Journeysummer theme was not far from my mind as we ventured south for a visit with our son. Our time away reminded me of how refreshing it can be to take in different sights and sounds and experience life from a different perspective.

I hope you have also had an opportunity to discover a hidden gem or two this summer. There is so much beauty all around us that often goes unnoticed with the weekly demands
on our attention.
I would like to express my gratitude to Brenda Corney, Chris Hume, and Dale Watson for their ongoing help with congregational and pastoral care, but especially for their extra help while I was away. I would also like to thank Glynis  Wilson Boultbee for so ably leadingworship the first two Sundays in August. Thegifts are rich and run deep here at Sunnybrook, and for that we are thankful.
I am looking forward to being with you again in worship on Sunday. Our gospel reading shares another story of Jesus bending the rules to heal on the Sabbath. Its a story about disrupting the status quo of the weekly routines in order to catch a glimpse of the hidden gem Gods kin-dom.
See you on Sunday.

Peace and joy,
Nancy
