Three church congregations in Central
Alberta work together to assist refugees in a variety of ways, with
the goal of walking with them on their journey to independent living
as new Canadians.
Support offered to various families has included:
- financial
support (full or co-sponsorship with Canadian government)
for daily living
- providing
household necessities
- dental care
- distribution
of bicycles
- transportation
to work
- interest
free loans
- support
for basic education
- visits
- assistance
with English
- application
and resume preparation
- assistance
with general documents
- job search
assistance
- providing
volunteer experience
- welcome
packages to newly arrived immigrants
Financial obligations of the committee are met
through fundraising activities and individuals' tax-receipted
donations.
